I finally upped the salt in the dough to 2 teaspoons; and the vanilla up to 2 teaspoons as well. That, for me, is the game changer. It doesn’t make it too salty at all but notches up the flavor. It’s rare that I can ever make an improvement in a Maida recipe, but I think these adjustments do! Thank you for publishing the recipe! It is phenomenal and feeds a crowd! It took more time for me to prepare as I was following the instructions to a T. My husband gave it the thumbs up and he usually goes for the chocolate cake.
